Week 5 KJHS Band In-Person Update!
Our plan for 9/24!
No Instruments on 9/24
No Instruments on Thursday 9/24. As much as we would love to FINALLY make music together, we are asking that students leave instruments at home on Thursday. Probably more than any other class, we will be going over our new policies and procedures for in-person students. We will be going over our band-specific PPE, how to handle morning instrument drop off, and assigning lockers. Our first day to play will be Friday 9/25
Required: Wire Music Stands for Friday!
In an effort to reduce shared surfaces, all Students are required to bring their OWN wire music stands to school. We suggest leaving it in your band locker so it can be disinfected daily when we spray with the electrostatic sprayer.
Band Specific PPE
The Band will provide the FIRST SET the following items during Friday's in-person rehearsal. Students are responsible for replacements. The socks/ bell covers are recommended based on researched performed by Colorado State University. Bell covers have been proven to significantly reduce aerosols created by the playing of wind instruments.
Flutes - Face Shield
Ob, Bssn, Clarinet, Bass Cl, A Sax, T Sax, B Sax - 2 Pair of High Denier Nylon Socks
Trumpet, Trombone - 3 Pair of Nylon Socks
Horn, Baritone, Tuba - Custom Bell Covers
All Brass - Pet training pads (pee pads) x 5
Virtual Students
Band Directors will be going live during class for Virtual Students via Google Meet. Students in the live band class will not be shown on video but their audio will be heard. We will continue to synchronize our assignments to keep Virtual Students progressing at the same pace as In-Person learners.
